The Bride

I was born on November 16, 1972. My dad wanted to name me Jennifer, and my mom wanted to name me Lisa, so obviously you can see who won, and I was named Lisa Ann Hodson. You can figure out how old I am by doing the math, but I really believe a person is only as old as they look and feel. I feel pretty young; I certainly don't feel my age and I've been told I don't look it, so everything's good.

I am the youngest child out of 5 born to William and Joan Hodson. I like to think my parents saved the best for last! : ) My siblings, in order of birth are Debbie, Joan, Bill, and Brian. I also have two nieces, Charla and Alexis, and another one on the way (due in late February). It was interesting growing up with four siblings. There was never a dull moment in our house, and we always kept things interesting, and I'm sure my parents would definitely agree! We never had to worry about having someone to play with, and although we certainly had our moments of fighting and tension, all 5 of us got along pretty well, especially since we were all pretty close in age.
Believe it or not, I have lived in the same house and have had the same phone number all my life. No, I've never moved from Cuyahoga Falls in all my 20+ years of life, so when I do finally move out sometime between now and May 10 next year, it should be interesting. It'll be a big change, but change is good.
I went to Richardson Elementary, Bolich Middle School, and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1991. I took a year off before entering The University of Akron in 1992 to save some money and make sure I knew what I wanted to do once I went to college. Well, things happened a little differently from how I had planned, life threw a few "curves" my way, and I took about 3 years off of school, but eventually went back to finish what I started, and that's what I'm working on now.
I'm still at Akron U. finishing my Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, but I Student Teach Fall 2003 (next Sept) and I plan on graduating (finally!) in December 2003. I am working towards getting my teaching license in English, more specifically, Integrated Language Arts, for grades 7-12. Yes, high school! Many people think I'm crazy for wanting to teach high school, especially high school English, but it's something I know I'll be good at. I've always been good in English, especially grammar, writing papers, and spelling. You can ask Andy how many times I'm his "dictionary/thesaurus" when he gets stuck on a word. ; ) I take after my mom with that. She is like a pro, an English language "queen" when it comes to that sort of stuff. Also, I've always enjoyed reading, especially when it's not a requirement for class, but just for my personal enjoyment. So, to answer people when they say I'm nuts....that's okay, I'm up for the challenge!
So, between taking classes to finish my degree, working about 25-30 hrs/week, and planning our wedding, there's not much free time. But whatever extra time I have, I like to spend it with Andy, going out with my friends (especially Amelia), reading for fun, writing, and I love to sing! I've been singing ever since 7th grade, and I love it! And, I think I'm pretty good, and I've been told so. I've sung for several weddings, and if I could, I would sing for my own, but I don't think that's possible. I've always had one dream, I've always wanted to sing on Broadway, but I'm in touch with reality and know that'll never happen! I can dream, can't I? I've always wanted to do that and be a teacher, so at least I'll do one!
